The Niigata Prefectural Library and the Niigata Prefectural Archive’s collection of historical materials related to Niigata from the 400 years since the time of Uesugi Kenshin, a famous local warlord, are open to the public as the “Echigo-Sado Digital Library.”
Moreover, images of historical documents are supplied along with the description in Niigata-ken no Ayumi, an overview of Niigata Prefecture (published in 1990). As you read the electronic version of Niigata-ken no Ayumi, you can view historical documents.
If you wish to use the documents in this digital library in a publication or other print, please get permission first by submitting an application for permission to reproduce an item in a publication (fukusha butsu shuppan keisai shinseisho) to the presidents of the Niigata Prefectural Library and the Niigata Prefectural Archives. Please see the information about Echigo-Sado Digital Library for details.
The Echigo-Sado Digital Library can also be viewed in the Niigata Prefectural Library. Images can only be printed on A4-size paper in color at the cost of 40 yen per page.
