- For Items with a Barcode
You only need to present the documents you wish to borrow and either your [Student ID Card] or [RINS Card] at the Library Counter. You may also make use of the automatic borrowing option. - For Other Documents
Your Student ID Card and a Lending Form must be filled out. Please come to the Library Counter. - Departing Without Proper Procedure
Whether intentional or not, you will be required to submit a written explanation. Please do not forget to follow the proper borrowing procedures.
Materials that cannot be borrowed:- Precious Materials, Quasi-Precious Materials, Special Materials
- Reference Books (Catalogs, Indexes, Dictionaries)
- Periodicals (Magazines, Newspapers, Almanacs, White Papers, etc.)
- Reports of Valuable Securities
- Audiovisual Materials (Other than Cassette Tapes and CDs for Language Study)
- Materials which have a label stating that they may not be removed from the library, or state that the materials are for reference use
- Other designated books (personal materials, etc.)
Reference
You are able to view these materials within the library.
Open Access Materials (until the Library closes) - You are able to view these materials freely. After viewing these materials, please be sure to place them on the Return Cart.
- All materials in the Seta Library are Open Access Materials.
Closed Access Documents (at least 15 minutes before the Library closes) Closed Access Documents are located in a separate storage area, which only Library Staff and Graduate Students may enter. However, other individuals may borrow these materials for reference within the library, if the following procedures are followed. 《Procedures》 - Please bring either a hard copy printout or a written memo of the desired materials found on the library computer.
- The library staff will retrieve the materials for you.
- In exchange for the materials, the library will keep your Student ID Card or RINS Card.
- After reading the materials, please return them to the Library Counter and your Student ID Card or RINS Card will be returned to you.
(All materials must be returned to the Library counter on the same day, at least 15 minutes before the library closes.)
Returning of Books
Please be sure to return the books you’ve borrowed by their due date.
Procedure for Returning Books (at least 15 minutes before the library closes) - Please bring your previously borrowed books to the library counter. You may only bring your own books.
We do not allow the return of books by a friend. - You may return your materials to any of our libraries (Fukakusa, Omiya, Seta)
However, items without a barcode and audiovisual teaching materials must be returned to the library from which they were borrowed. - The Fukakusa, Omiya, and Seta Libraries all have return slots. Therefore, you may return borrowed materials even when the libraries are closed.
Lending Period - You will be informed of the due date by the library staff when taking care of the borrowing procedures.
- If you forget the due date, you can either check the tag inserted into the materials (The due date is written there), check the date through the MyLibrary system, or ask at the counter.
- A one-time due date extension is possible.
- A penalty is given for each day the materials are not returned past the due date. (For one day late, you may not borrow materials for one day. The longest penalty is 30 days)
- Those who are late in returning their materials will be contacted by notice, telephone, mail. etc.
- If the materials are lost, stained, or damaged in any other way, please report it to the Library Counter as soon as possible.
Renewals
A one-time renewal of the borrowed materials is possible.
Procedure(at least 15 minutes before the library closes) This service is also available through MyLibrary. Please note that materials may only be renewed in the following cases. - If this is the first time a renewal request is made
- If there are no other reservations for the materials
Materials with a barcode may be renewed at any of the Ryukoku University Libraries. However, please note that materials without a barcode may only be renewed at the library from which they were originally borrowed. Reservations
You are able to make a reservation for materials that are currently being borrowed. Please carry out the proper procedure at the library counter. It is also to make a reservation through the MyLibrary system.
Reservation Procedures (at least 15 minutes before the library closes) - Please bring a hard copy of the materials search result, and either your Student ID Card or RINS Card, to the Library Counter.
- Once the reserved materials have been returned to the library, you will be notified by e-mail.
- The materials can be held for you at the library for one week. After receiving notification from the library that the materials have returned, please be sure to pick them up within one week.
- If you would like to cancel your reservation, please provide notice at the Library Counter.
Ordering Materials
Books at the Ryukoku University Libraries You may order any materials belonging to the Ryukoku University Libraries, without going to that specific library.
